Welcome to the Brainerd
Police Department website.
The Brainerd Police Department
has been providing proud service to our city since 1873. From foot and horse
patrol in those early years to modern computer-equipped squad cars, protecting
and serving has always been our central mission. Today our staff consists of 23
sworn officers, 6 full-time support staff, and 3 part-time service staff.
We consider it a privilege to serve the residents and visitors of our fine
city.
Brainerd is urban in nature,
but is surrounded by the beautiful lakes, woods, and farmland of Crow Wing
County. With a heavy seasonal influx of tourism and traffic, our officers and
staff can be described in a word; busy! Traffic safety is a natural priority
for our 13,000 residents, and even more so for our many visitors to the Brainerd
Lakes Area. Our partnership with 11 other law enforcement agencies in drunk
driving enforcement and other traffic safety projects demonstrate the
collaborative nature of public safety in our region.
We also take great pride in
partnering with the Brainerd Fire Department, North Ambulance, and Crow Wing
County Sheriff’s Office to bring you a team approach to public safety.
Internally, successful programs like Police K-9, Bomb Squad, Drug Unit, Tactical
Team, and Crime Prevention all work together to make Brainerd a safe city to
live, work, and visit.
